Ben Cohen: Rugby star reveals he is going deaf and how Elton John helped him
England rugby star Ben Cohen has revealed he is going deaf - and how a message from Elton John has benefited him.
World Cup winner Ben, 34, first learned he had hearing trouble in 2004 but always found hearing aids uncomfortable and ineffective when he was younger.
Now after retiring and launching his anti-bullying charity The Stand Up Foundation, Ben attracted the attention of Sir Elton, a champion of the Starkey Hearing Foundation charity.
Ben said: "He called me out of the blue and said, 'I hear you're going deaf. I love the work you're doing and I'd love to help you. When you're next in America, I'm going to send you to Starkey to fit you with new hearing aids."
Ben added the new technology "changed my life".
He said: "The hearing aids are directional, they pick up the sound in front of me, like a person I'm talking to, more than background noise."
Wishing all a Happy Easter and Passover.
Dr. Irene had the pleasure of attending the NFLPA (National Football League Player's Association) spring meeting. Dr. Irene had the opportunity to screen hearing, as well as, discuss issues regarding hearing prevention and loss with the players and their families.
Remote Microphones: Many users of hearing aids struggle to hear in challenging listening environments, such as; restaurants, the car, meetings, and church. A remote microphone is an affordable solution to this problem.
Most manufacturers have developed remote microphones to be used with existing hearing aids. The microphone is discreetly clipped to the shirt of the speaker. The speakers voice is directly sent to your hearing aids without interference from competing sounds, improving communication in challenging environments.

More than twenty-one million infants, children, and adults in America suffer from some degree of hearing loss in one or both ears. Such hearing impairments
can go unsuspected until the sounds of daily life become faded or unrecognizable.
Rather than accepting an impairment as an inevitable part of aging, or shying away from social interaction to avoid embarrassment, seek proper treatment from an audiologist.
If you have questions regarding hearing or hearing loss, please contact us at email@example.com.
